Instead of a list of achievements, dates and places, I want my bio to be a little different. Think of it as a blunt conversation starter.
But, let’s make a deal.
If by the end of it you find yourself interested, in agreement (or better) in disagreement with any of it, you’ll drop me a line through the usual, approved channels and we go for a coffee. Then and only then, will I happily tell you about me, my life, the time I poisoned a certain tennis player and anything else you’d like to know. And, I’ll be delighted to hear your story, in return.
For now though…
I’ve pretended for the last year to not find what we do in this industry incredibly wasteful. Why, oh why would any CMO in their right mind part with hundreds of thousands of dollars to cast, make, shoot and purchase the media for a tv ad, only for it to be watched by a handful of people at best - when there are cats freaking out to cucumbers on tik tok that give more people more joy.
Now, if you didn’t like that, you’re not going to love the rest.
Truthfully, I’m not the guy to write a tv spot which will move you to tears, have you shazaming the score, or buying the latest athleisure until the day you die. That said, I am the guy who can show you how something less traditional, unconventional and surprising can be better for your brand - especially these days, in this climate.
Don’t get me wrong, great stories are great stories. But have you ever smelled the fresh rain after a heatwave, or doubled the size of a marshmallow in your microwave? Immersion is how to truly be part of a brand story whether bringing the story to your world(ar), personalizing the story(ai), or even owning the story (web3)
I don’t have the answers.
However, my next and most exciting challenge yet is going to be about finding them.
